“Often life’s pleasures pass us by simply because we don’t take a moment to focus on them… Make a point of noticing everyday something that uplifts your spirit or tickles your heart… Stop to breathe in the joy of this moment and then tell someone about it. Share your joy and revel in it. When your joy is savoured, and then shared, it is magnified…” ROBIN GRILLE

Revisiting old biscuit favourites, custard biscuits. Loving the simplicity of no fuss baking.

Winter afternoon light, loving the warmth and deliciousness of it.

Loving having little people still small enough to go out confidently wearing pyjama bottom boxer shorts over the top of everyday clothing and the other wearing a cardboard bag as a soldiers helmet on his head. I know these days are numbered and I’m holding onto them with a stifled chuckle and a big heart.

Loving cold beach frolicks.

Lunch date with Mr Chocolate at Three Blue Ducks*. Alone time without little people, we even had two coffees…loving every minute of that.

Sydney Writers Festival I adore you. You are nothing but inspiring and on weekends like this I love every. single. inch, of this fair city. Truly inspired…loving that.

Head On photographic exhibition…so many stunning pictures. So many, talented people out there wielding a camera.… loved every single one of them.

Watching a little blanket grow. It started with some really unlikely colours, using what I had on hand and not a hint of an idea or plan, but I think (with fingers and toes crossed) it’s coming together, (in a rustic mixy matchy kind of way)….and I’m loving that.

Stories of tea. Getting to read all your beautiful stories of tea. I was incredibly touched that so many of you took the time to share a tea story with me. There were so many lovely stories I decided to change it to three winners.

Thank you to everyone, I wish I could have given you all some tea.

For me, there seem to be a lot of things to think about at the moment, and never quite enough time to do all of that thinking. What I have noticed lately though, is that life seems deliciously wonderful when those tiny moments of joy are grabbed hold of and held for just moment longer. Pausing a weary brain, and clearing a head full of thoughts.

A clear head… there is a lot to love of that.

Waking in the middle of the night, being showered in moonlight from a very full moon….loving every moonbeam of that.

Weekend away to a beautiful farm, where we were able to pick whatever we wanted to eat. With persimmons, pecans, eggs, spinach, sweet potato, tomatoes, mandarins, and home made blackberry jam from blackberries just down the hill to choose from…we all loved every second of it.

Dappled autumnal afternoon light hitting my kitchen table… loving that.

Dimpled baby smiles and cheeky chuckling boys…loving them.

Drinking coffee from my grandmothers 1960’s coffee mug. There is something about it that grounds me every time. The connection to her, the history behind it, the brief quiet time that is usually associated with it and importantly the lip. Nothing worse than a coffee cup with an annoying lip…loving drinking from that cup.

Moments of simplicity. Often far too brief lately, but jeez….loving them when they are there.

Surprise bunches of flowers, with perfectly tiny pink blooms…loving their tiny pinkness.

Eating simply, with lots of whole foods. I really do enjoy eating like this, it feels right and combined with eating with the seasons…well, I love that.

This is also led me to playing with a lemon tart. Using sprouted buckwheat, no butter, no wheat, no sugar and gluten free. Sounded a little unlikely when I was writing down how I thought I might make it. Turns out… we all loved it.

Watching this little girl’s face light up on the discovery and pure delight of, well, everything…loving her so much.

That sweet moment when the coffee hits, and all the world is realigned again. Clarity in a coffee cup…loving that.

History lesson for my boys, both of them so very interested…loving that.

Weekend get togethers with people that live near and so very far, far away. Time has stretched into years but conversation just flows…loving that.

Deep cups of chai on darkened mornings. Little ones sleep on, just me and my chai and quiet, so quiet…loving that.

Seeing pink faced, sweaty little boys laughing together. Everything is so hilarious… loving that.

Conversations that make you think, ponder, and dig deeper than you would normally venture…loving that.

Seeing her little upturned face to the rain. A joyous smile as rain drops splatter on those soft cheeks…loving that.

Tweaking favourite recipes to incorporate different flavours. Getting the thumbs up from Mr Chocolate, friends wanting the recipe and Monkey Boy declaring me to be the best mama in the world after eating it…loving that.

Giving a good friend the gift of captured moments I had taken over the past six months of her kids. I loved doing this and I’m really thankful that she let me do it. Nothing structured, just my camera and what ever they were doing at the time. The only way I’m going to get better at something is to practise, practise, practise. Being able to take, in the moment shots of someone else’s kids, well that’s a pretty special thing to be able to do.

Running in the rain early on a Sunday morning.

Watching little legs dance, and little hands clapping with glee. Infectious smiles as there really is nothing funnier than a small baby dancing.

New exciting beginnings of pre-school for Little Monkey. With his bag swinging and a skip in his step he goes. Breathe mama, breathe…

Little people bunting sent to, well little people. I quite enjoy sending surprise packages, actually I love it.

And, spending time with loved family members that I don’t get to see that often. Truly loving that.

Getting to take photos at a friends small people party. I get such an enjoyment from taking pictures, the camera is a wonderful thing. Willing friends that let me practise on them, love that.

Making bunting. I had a gentle reminder of why the sewing machine hasn’t been dragged out much lately. My baby helper lay over my foot on the machines pedal, tugged on the bias ending as I sewed it on through, got stuck weaving herself through the chair legs, and taste tested every triangle I sewed. The sewing is definitely a little shonky, but jeez, I’m loving that I did it.

Hula Hoop workshop. Cirque du Soleil performer I am certainly not, but it was fun.

Getting to enjoy the company of my grandparents visiting, obviously I had to make a cake for the occasion.

Co sleeping and breastfeeding, it makes my life so much easier. She loves it, and is happy…which makes me happy. Love that.

A pot of chai to start the day with.

Watching these two love each others company while Monkey Boy is at school. That just makes my heart feel big in so many ways.

loving this week

Loving this week…

being tucked up inside

when summery storms end

a hot day with thundery down pours

Inspiring visits from a wonderful midwife

Sneaky sleepy naps with Little Monkey

Date night out with Mr Chocolate,

nearly getting to here, but getting in here instead. I love this place.

Remembering how beautiful the city is when I’m usually tucked up in bed.

Long chats around the kitchen table.

Soothing massaging hands, that lull you to sleepiness…bliss.

What have you loved this week?

loving right now

Lots of energy within, but I’m having trouble knowing where to direct it. So many things to do, so many things I want to do… and I want to do them all.

A few things I’m loving at the moment…

creating with The Monkeys, using buttons and felt

my new old couch… or is it my old new couch?

making simple honey biscuits

hearing Little Monkey describe something as… wuvley

a new favourite cafe, that serve with vintage saucers and proper teapots

5.30am cups of chai. A magical time of day. It feels like bonus time, extra time. The Monkeys are (hopefully) still asleep and Mr Chocolate is long gone to work. Just me and the moment of a new dawning day…
