Loving… summer days

Fierce heat and warm blue green seas,

that’s what summer days are made of.

While this is the last

day left of the calendar season,

the summer days still linger on.

There’s still corn to be eaten,

 basil seed to pinch off,

and a pile of hidden tomatoes ready to ripen.

Hot nights and a scant breeze,

to gently nudge sleep

just a little closer.

…summer days you haven’t left us yet.

What are you loving at the moment?

[“Often life’s pleasures pass us by simply because we don’t take a moment to focus on them… Make a point of noticing everyday something that uplifts your spirit or tickles your heart… Stop to breathe in the joy of this moment and then tell someone about it. Share your joy and revel in it. When your joy is savoured, and then shared, it is magnified…” ROBIN GRILLE]

Thank you to all those who left such great comments on my last post. I loved reading them all.

You are an inspiring bunch, and I love that!

      • It’s day 2 of Autumn and we are going to have 28C today. I am remaining stoic as I know that pretty soon Brunhilda will be the only thing between moi and frozen toes so I shall bear it like a trouper and shut the hell up about the heat ;).

      • My “Brunhilda experiment” this year is to learn to make the very BEST flaky pastry to render the most scrumptious of savoury pies, quiches etc. Every year I have a mission, that’s my mission for this year. Autumn is in cahoots with your autumn apparently as we are just about to experience close to 30C days for the rest of the week. Going to a Permablitz on Sunday and it’s 28C which sounds mild to you mainlanders but is like 36C for we poor ozone layerless Taswegians. Wish us luck we are making keyhole gardens etc. I am going to write a blog post about it and Stevie-boy is going to take his Nikon and Canon (with his 50mm lens) so I can do a reasonable job of it. You never know, we might offer Serendipity Farm up to the Permablitzers in the future 🙂

  1. Beautiful piccies! I do love me some summer and beachy goodness, this post captures them all wonderfully. 🙂 Just picked the last of my cherry tomato crop, biting into those slow roasted babies is like biting into sunshine… Deliciousness!
