In the garden…
thoughts are slowed,
and breath is deeper.
Gentle hands brush past fragrant lavenders,
winter light catches on petals,
highlighting a beauty that often goes unnoticed.
With a kind sun warming your back,
there is a pause,
external noises muffled to the internal slowing beat
A soft sigh,
thoughts not as worrying, concerns not as pressing, what to do next,
definitely not as important,
out here, in the garden.
Oh how I wish the garden felt like that for me.

Though sometimes it can be hard to motivate oneself to get out into the garden in winter, once we are out there it is a joy — moving around, being in the sun, looking at our plants, with less pressure from gardening tasks, it can make us feel fantastic.

It sure can Deirdre. Although I hear you on the pressure of gardening tasks. There are a whole bunch of weeds whispering to me at the moment that are stampeding through.

Lovely. 😊 I’ve just spent the morning weeding and though it’s not exactly my favourite part of gardening, it was oddly meditative.

Beautiful pictures and words. I find a great deal of solace in the garden myself, even with seemingly mundane tasks.
