out of the city…

watch your step || cityhippyfarmgirl

While last weeks post was definitely in the city, this week it was about stepping out.

Way out.

It was a long weekend,

and always one to jump on an opportunity to skip the usual day to day stuff,

we were out of there for a few days.

After far too many weeks of far too many illnesses,

too much busy and one broken arm.

It was time for

breathing in and breathing out…

felt good.

end of the day

Tell me what you’ve been up to lately.

What’s going on in your world at the moment?

  1. I’ve just got back from a week away in the bush (camping on my parent’s property), and while I’ve posted about some of the goodies I brought back, the best part was the kids just being able to roam, swim in the dam, build fairy gardens, pick fruit, cook sausages on a big fork over the fire, and hunt down the best marshmallow sticks…and nobody asked to watch TV 🙂

  2. My week has been about catching up – with work and home life – and getting ready for an out of town guest. I’ve also been contemplating the vegetarian menus I mean to cook up this weekend for my friend, including spaghetti squash and curries. I did manage to get out of the city and into the wooded trails a few days ago for a lovely hike. 🙂

  3. We’ve been enjoying the amazingly recuperative power of staring into a campfire while holding a marshmallow on the end of stick. Zen and the art of S’mores making! 😉

    • It so is isn’t it. Why I wonder? I made tea on a tiny fire on the weekend and it was instantly soul filling. Something different? A change of pace? Or do marshmallows and sticks have powers we really are yet to realise??

      • Yes, yes and yes! 😉 I recently read an article about the search to create LED lighting that is appealing and why we (as humans) find fluorescent light so unpleasant. The takeaway? We’re built (as humans) to feel an affinity for the light of fire, the source of light that kept the darkness of night at bay for millennia. 🙂

      • Really? oh that is so interesting and makes complete sense. We are such complex creatures us humans, and yet in some ways that just seems like basics. Love it. Thank you for adding more food to my thought 🙂

  4. Was it one of the boys who broke their arm? When you were in emergency did you count how many boys were there compared with girls? I’m glad you had some downtime and an opportunity to unwind and recharge your batteries xx

  5. Always great to unwind out in the country. We are out in the country but are anything but unwinding. We are wading through a stack of tasks that we need to do to get the property ready for fire season and for our veggie growing season ahead. lots of work, we built a concrete ramp into Sanctuary (my big fully enclosed veggie garden) today out in the Tassie ozone free sunshine and were extra glad we don’t live in your neck of the woods with our steep slopes and barrow loads full of concrete ;). Did you see that gorgeous red moon last night? It was spectacular 🙂
