A run of reading some wonderful books, life is too short to waste time reading a bad book. There are so many great ones to be had. This particular one, has had me laughing out loud and quietly sobbing.

Hand made dresses that have been waiting to fit.

Finally getting organised to start sewing my advent calendar. Cut, cut, sew, sew… It’s an ambitious colour palate, but I’m fingers and toes crossed hopeful.

Taste testing strawberry blueberry jam. It’s been so long since I made any jam. It was lovely being beside the pot, wielding my berry stained wooden spoon, testing as I went along.

  3. I know it requires a whole lot of thinking, planning, making (not least time); however, you seem to be awfully good at this ‘go slow’ caper. You should go professional 🙂

    PS – I love the dress, makes me recall handmade jumpers and jeans that my grandmother used to make for me. Aahh.

  5. What are you doing with my saucer Brydie? Hehe. I have the exact same Royal Doulton cup and saucer in that pattern and I love it.

    While you had a run of reading I had a somewhat different run. I purchased season five of Madmen (13 episodes) and put it away as a christmas pressie for me. Realising Hubby was away for a few days, the Madmen itch got me. I stuck on the CD and watched all thirteen episodes over two days. I’ve had my Madmen fix now until they produce the next series. The problem I now face is – I need another christmas pressie for myself.

    On another note, this week I enjoyed spending precious time with my neighbours; soon to be moving back home overseas to live. Every moment counts and learning her recipes to remember her by is very meaningful and joyous right now – to both her and to me.

    Yesterday I had a fabulous day laughing, sharing, eat beautiful food with beautiful elderly people who realise there is no time to waste in this life being sad. I enjoyed and savoured every moment with a good friend who tells me she has a couple of years left. Another aggressive melanoma cut out last week. The worst part? That ‘supposed’ friends are avoiding seeing her because ‘they don’t know what to say’. Sitting with her, listening, talking about things familiar and the future were moments I treasured. And today I lived and appreciated that I can run, wash the car, scrub the shower, sew christmas bunting and feel lucky to be alive and well.

    • Mariana you had me nodding at every paragraph you wrote there.
      The tea set, you clearly have good taste!
      Madmen… I’ve been waiting for the Season 5. I did all the other seasons in one big shabang at the beginning of the year, and have been holding off. Now I just want to watch it, and simultaneously change all my lounge room round to sleek Madmen era furniture.
      Enjoy that precious time both with your neighbours and your elderly friends. Those moments are so important, and I think it makes even more special when you are aware that those moments can be treasured.

  9. Looking forward to seeing your finished calender – it’s looking very fine! Nothing prettier on toddlers than a little handmade dress. Reminds me of when I was growing up in the 80’s – I had a wardrobe of sweet dresses like this, most homemade by Mum and some 70’s hand me downs from my cousin.
