Ikea has got nothing on this place. Looking for something for the kitchen? It’s there. Feel like revamping your lounge room? Have a look around. A one off wooden bookshelf? There is a number to choose from.
This place has got everything, absolutely everything… and if you don’t mind, I’ll take everything. Oh wait that’s not going to work, I live in a small flat. Alright, I’ll be selective.
Antiques, collectables, things that need a little work, things that look brand new. I could have taken a hundred photos but instead I got side tracked and was running my sticky fingers over numerous pieces of furniture and other kitchen goodies.
As I have recently finished watching Mad Men, it’s hard not to get happy- squealy- excited about the vast array of retro (mad men type decor) furniture.
My advice, if you are after something new and want it to look a little different. Skip the chain stores and have a peak at your local second hand dealers. There is probably something just waiting to be snapped up and loved right now.
If you live in Sydney, this place is an Aladdin’s cave.
Oooh, I could spend hours there…makes me miss my days as a museum curator when I played with old stuff all the time. I still get a shock when I see some of the prices though…

They do have personality don’t they Jane. So many things with a whole lot of history attached to it… much more exciting than a made in China tag.

Looks like a great place to wander about for a couple of hours, although the prices on retro items is terrifying! 🙂 LOVE the mixing bowls!

Celia this place is surprisingly reasonable. There is just so MUCH at times it’s hard to choose. The turn over is really quick.

Love the old things in those photos, when we went down to Tasmania there were many great second hand stores there, shame I lived so far away as I could have brought heaps of it home with me.

I’m seriously tempted to make a trip to Sydney for those green chairs. Goregous!
I havn’t had an excuse to buy anything for a while now….but am now having fun buying new (old) stuff for our farm shed temporary home. So far i’ve scored an old enamel pedestal hand basin, enamel laundry sink, and 70s vinyl lounge (and i’ve still spent less than $50 all up). I LOVE new old stuff.

less than $50 Tricia? Now that really is a bargain, (and exciting about getting to find new old stuff!)

Heidi some of those things in there, it really was very hard to walk away. I’m sure some of the pieces of furniture still whisper to me on a quiet night.

I was addicted to Mad Men. Where is the next series??? I love all things retro too and this place has so much more appeal (and I bet the shopping experience is a lot more pleasant) than what goes on at Ikea. xx

Mad Men is great isn’t it 🙂
As for this place compared to Ikea? Well you don’t have to walk a couple of kilometres to get out.

Ooh, those green chairs!! Yes please!!
I took the middle one opshopping today to our nearest Vinnies. A most productive visit – we came home with a little bedside set of drawers for her. For a modest outlay of $10! And further more, unlike IKEA, I don’t have to wrestle my brain with ridiculous assembly instructions when we get home! 😉

Now that’s a bargain! Also you are installing good opshop groundings for the middle one. Although I suspect all of your girls may have well established groundings 😉

I really was very restrained…probably because I was walking around breast feeding, and couldn’t squish into as many aisles as I would have liked.
