“Mama my taste buds can’t believe how good this is, they just want to keep eating and eating this” Monkey Boy
Right. Mental note to self, must make these again. And I did, then I did again.
Sourdough Apple Rolls
sourdough, into round parts- flatten a little
add some sliced cooked apple
a sprinkle of sugar
a sprinkle of cinnamon
some sultanas
Then pull the edges into the middle and slightly twist to make sure it binds.
Now turn it upside down so the smooth side is up, and let it rise for awhile. Cook as you would normal bread.
This picture was of a sultana free one, and the first batch that I did. Perfect for a breakfast on the run, snack, lunch etc. Easy to freeze, and delicious eaten slightly warm. Monkey Boy loves them in his pre-school lunch box. I love them as an instant breakfast, then I can keep doing other things.
Oh well done, Brydie! What a treat for your boys! Your sourdough is looking really good – so impressed it’s all done with a starter you grew yourself. I had to buy mine, all I was able to grow was mould.. 🙂

Its funny Celia, I made two batches of bread today one a sourdough with raisins and cinnamon, the other a yeasted one. I feel more comfortable with the sourdough now- I feel I know what to expect more!
Suzie (starter) still going strong 🙂

Thanks Anna- thank goodness I converted the boys to sourdough- they weren’t so sure about it before.

So simple and yet so gorgeous! I wish I had the patience to make my own sourdough starter. No doubt it’ll just turn out to be a grey puddle of mess if I didn’t happen to.

Amy I’m sure you could do it. Email me if you want some starter though, I’m happy to spread the love!

Thanks Christine. Thankfully they weren’t a passing novelty, and he still adores them. Kids huh, they keep you amused with their comments…

Oh clever you, such a great idea – healthy and delicious. It’s so good you have your boys eating and enjoying sourdough. Thinking, maybe a bit of cheese in there too for an easy lunch box for me at work – mmmmm.

I was thinking of other flavours to do, cheese and caramelised onion?
